Although Tiger Woods may have started playing golf at two, our very own Golf Professional Alex is proof that you don’t always need an early start to get hooked on golfing. Alex was first introduced to golf right as he headed into his teenage years. He was 12 years old when he first golfed on a short par 3 course called Glenlore in Commerce, not more than five minutes from his house. He spent every day that summer at that course, just hacking it up and down the short par 3s.
It would take another eight years before he took up the clubs again – right back at that same little par 3 course. “It was the summer going into my sophomore year of college when I began to start golfing again. It felt kind of like the summer when I was 12 playing golf – whenever I had spare time- but this time would be different I was hooked on golf and was addicted to getting better.”
Alex caught the bug, that quest for the perfect shot. As he headed back to college that fall, he chose Sports Management as his major and knew that he wanted to pursue golf as more than a hobby. “It has been 4 years since I began that journey and I now am lucky enough to say that I have found a job in the industry that I am passionate about and can’t wait to get started,” said Alex. We here at Copper Hills think we’re the lucky ones!
